The GeForce® 8800 GTX cards are here and ready to go. These flagship cards come with a swirl of pre-press reports indicating that there is a BOM error, or wrong resistor value, on GeForce 8800 GTX cards. Please be assured that all boards with this problem were purged from the production pipeline, and that all available product is fully qualified and certified by NVIDIA and XFX. NVIDIA and XFX stand behind these cards and back them with a full warranty.
Based on the revolutionary new GeForce 8 graphics architecture, these powerful new GeForce® 8800 GTX GPUs are the industry’s first DirectX® 10 compatible GPUs and are the reference GPUs for the DirectX® 10 development and certification.
Rocking the gaming world with a fully unified shader core that dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics, or pixel shading operations and unified stream processors that efficiently process geometry shader programs, while reducing dependence on the CPU for geometry processing, the GeForce® 8800 GTX features NVIDIA® GigaThread™ technology that supports thousands of independent simultaneous threads for maximum GPU utilization. Shader Model(SM) 4.0 enables more complex operations on the GPU and reduces the load and CPU cycles.
Stream Out enables programmers to add more detail without having to re-render the entire pipeline and Geometry Shaders permit geometry creation and tessellation for smooth curved surfaces and more lifelike character animation, including more realistic facial expressions and hair.
Occupying two slots each, these GPUs use high-speed GDDR3 memory and are HDCP capable.
So let’s cut to the chase: Just how fast are these new GPUs? Faster than a dual GeForce® 7900 GTX running in SLI mode. Faster, even, than a single GeForce® 7950 GX2 card. And, the GeForce® 8800 GTX has a 24 pixel per clock ROP.

I used to buy ATI until the tide turned and Nvidia cranked out better quality cards, even in image quality, which was where ATI used to beat Nvidia. With the 8800 series, Nvidia changed all that and essentially repeated what ATI did when they released the 9700 Pro. This card works great at my 1600x1200 native resolution and for such a powerful and fast card, it's very quiet. I can barely hear the whir of the fans. Very happy with this card and would highly recommend it, especially because of XFX's double lifetime warranty, which allows you to be able to sell it without the new buyer worrying about warranty issues, because they'll be covered under the double lifetime warranty.

This video card is simply amazing. I have yet to experience any game or piece of software that can utilize this card to it's full extent. I have always purchased and used ATI cards in the past, but now I will never go back to ATI. My only gripe, is the ultra-simplified configuration software that comes with this card. (nvidia control panel) Other than that, this card is absolutely perfect. I would recommend this card to anyone that wants to push their games to the absolute limit. Simply perfect card.

Upgrded from 7900 GTX SLI to one 8800 GTX, my single 8800 GTX put my 7900 GTX SLI to shame. A bit expensive but it performs amazingly and runs all my games at max settings with ease.
